What is Chinese medicine?
Chinese medicine views the human body as a microcosm of the universe. Therefore the health of the planet is inseparable from ours. In keeping with the highest precepts of the classical Chinese medical canons, we seek to understand physiology in an ecological fashion, and to honor the roots of these insights by the observation and protection of natural rhythms. These principles were first written and developed in the Han dynasty. Our goal is to improve our patients' health working with the classical thought system of that era.
Classical Chinese herbalism and acupuncture seek to harmonize our bodies and minds so that we can take our place within Nature and be the best we can be. In acupuncture this is done by inserting needles in specific points, so as to rectify the flow of Qi, or vital energy, and optimize the functioning of our organs. In herbal medicine this is achieved by using flavors to elicit movements of Qi, and thereby bring organs, tissues, mind and spirit into balance.

Highest quality herbsOur herbs are either certified organic or third party certified free of pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants by an independent lab.
Our suppliers adhere to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) standards and in many cases have personal relationships with the farmers who grew the herbs. This ensures a good clean source as well as knowing that the herbs were grown in the traditional way and in a climate and soil that fosters the most potency for each species. We are currently working with a Marin organic farm to produce the herbs which we use the most locally, so as to reduce our carbon footprint. |
