Postpartum and Lactation in Classical Chinese Medicine
August 15-16th, 2026 on Zoom
14 CEUs/PDAs/CPDs
Course description:
Please join us for a comprehensive overview of postpartum and lactation in classical Chinese medicine. Drawing from the Jin Gui Yao Lue 金匱要略, Nei Jing 內經, Mai Jing 脈經 and Qian Jin Fang 千金方, we will explore how to support new mothers with classical formulae (jing fang 經方). After studying the physiology of the postpartum period and care in the immediate postpartum period, we will turn our attention to pathology, including lactation issues, retained lochia, lack of sleep and exhaustion, pain management, psycho-emotional difficulties, prolapse, and more. We will also discuss the concurrent treatment of the mother and newborn, as pathologies often intersect in the mother-baby dyad. All discussions of pathologies will be accompanied by numerous case studies explaining symptom analysis, pulses and the corresponding herbal treatments.
For those of you also desiring training in the care of pregnant women, there is the option to take the pre-recorded course “The Herbal Treatment of Pregnant Women” (see details here) at a discounted price, in order to arrive at a comprehensive view of classical Chinese obstetrics.
